If you’re thinking about updating your home or holiday home ready for spring, but a total overhaul might feel too daunting, you can freshen up any space by simply applying a few of my design tricks. These will make a massive impact on any space, without huge costs or stress.
Here are my tips on how we can easily update and refresh for you:
Choosing a colour scheme for your holiday home.
Painting the inside of your home is a guaranteed way of breathing new life and style into a space. Especially if you pick a colour you might not normally go for, which will really change the dynamics of the room. It’s important to remember that you don’t necessarily need to paint the whole room either, just one wall can add a dramatic effect, in half the time.
Picking new colours can be daunting, my job as an interior designer is to help you choose the perfect shade for you, your home and your client base, if you are a holiday let. Minimum stress, maximum results.
Layering is a fantastic way to introduce new elements into a room. Adding rugs to a space is a great way to give the room a completely different feel and is a design trick that can be used on hardwood or carpeted floors. Rugs not only help to soften hard floorings, but they are also a great way of adding new colour and style to a room and really revamp it. The same goes for throws too.
New curtains or blinds can really change how your room looks and feels. By selecting the right type of dressings for your windows we can add a sense of drama and luxury. At Hops and Camellia, we have over 30 years of experience in the curtain industry and provide a completely personal and bespoke service. We understand with so many options making the right selection for you can feel overwhelming, that’s why I am there to help you through every step of the process and create the wow factor on your behalf.
Create a different mood with lighting.
Another great way to add impact to a room is via the lighting, there are so many options to create different atmospheres by playing with light. Adding a mix of ceiling or wall with strategically placed table and freestanding is a great way to totally change the mood and look of a room.
A simple way to bring interest to any interior is by adding new artwork. Depending on the layout of the rest of the room and the aesthetic you are trying to create, you may want to cluster prints or go for a dramatic, stand-alone piece, of statement art. At Hops & Camellia, we also help our clients source art that not only suits their taste but also their space.
