The property is a Creekside, seventies style bungalow.
The Client Brief:
The client’s family already had a holiday home in St Mawes. They purchase this house through H Tiddy Estate agents and found Hops and Camellias to carry out the renovation and full interior design. The clients had a young family and wanted the home to be easy to live in and not to worry about things getting damaged. It was important that they could have other families to stay. The clients had a particular love of fabric and textiles and an appreciation of interior decoration. Their brief was to encompass all their passions and the family life, making home as fun as possible
Elaine started out by spending time with the client getting to know what they loved and how they wanted to spend their time in the property. The time frame was very tight so the clients could use the home at Easter and then after the second phase for summer.
This was a very personal service and a very close relationship, where client and designer got to know each other very well, which is why the end result is such a success. Elaine and the client had similar passions for textiles and shared the same vision for the end result. The client purchased much of the furnishing herself, with careful clarification on choices via Elaine. This is something many clients prefer when it is a private home and they have a clear mind on what they want. It turned out a great success and the property has increased in value enormously as a result of this. This property is a textiles dream!
