On the harbourfront, this Cornish cottage invokes everything you’d wish for in this setting.
The Client Brief:
The client had found the property at Savills Cornwall. They had looked for that perfect Cornish cottage and externally this was just that. Internally on first viewing, the property was okay, looking into detail there was much that needed replacing or renovating. The clients wanted everything perfect and functioning well. They wanted to arrive there, without facing maintenance issues or service problems. Some parts in each room didn’t work for them. For instance, the Living Room had no focal points for a fire, the utility room didn’t have any storage or surfaces, the kitchen had poor lighting, the bedrooms had damp storage and a lack of power points and good lighting, the flooring throughout was poor, the front door was rotten. The clients’ brief was to address all of this and create a wonderful scheme to decorate and furnish.
The clients lived out of the county, so the process was mainly by emails and reporting. Elaine created new layouts to meet the brief and add some more. She replaced all the flooring, working with much of the existing framework, always mindful of the budget
In the end the property looks is if it had always been this way. Nothing looked added, only sympathetic and on point. The house on all levels became a luxurious holiday home in one of the best locations in Cornwall.
